This payroll tax holiday could be synonymous with a stimulus check in 2011 as it could add-up to over $2,000 a person. At the moment all employees pay a payroll tax of 7.65% on income below $106,800. Of this 7.65% a whopping 6.2% goes towards social security. In 2011 this will drop from 6.2% to 4.2% and decrease the overall payroll tax by a full 2%.
